PL/SQL Database Developer

The Role in a Nutshell

At HALIGHT, the PL/SQL Database Developer is responsible for creating and maintaining storage frameworks. The Database Developer will elucidate the intended use of each database, design appropriate solutions, and ensure the roll-out of these systems. The Database Developer will also be available to address queries related to the use of each database. This position reports to the Database Development Lead and is a member of the Data Services Team.


  • Architect, develop and maintain tables and constraints to meet the client's requirements
  • Gather all salient information regarding the intended functions of each database
  • Use PL/SQL, implement all DML such that the application logic only interacts with the database through defined procedures
  • Must be capable of understanding and writing complex business logic using SQL and PL/SQL
  • Review each development to detect and amend coding and typographical errors, as well as bugs
  • Formulate data dictionaries that are congruent with task specifications
  • Create technical documents that outline the purpose, capacity, and guidelines attached to each database
  • Provide practical guidance on the use and migration of each database
  • Detects and corrects performance-related issues


  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience with Oracle 11g, 12c or 19c, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
  • Experience with PHP is advantageous
  • Experience in Web Development is advantageous
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Familiarity with an Agile environment
  • Ability to work as a part of team
  • Strong query experience with joins, sub queries and aggregates
  • Linux experience
  • Experience with Git version control
  • Portfolio of previous developments is preferred
